The burden and desire to start the Calvary Baptist Church of Davison were conceived in the heart of Rev. Ralph Davidson by the Holy Spirit almost two years before it became a reality in September 1968.
Bible studies were conducted for several months in various places in the area. A land contract was signed on September 5, 1968, and services began three days later in what was then the Davison Township Hall (currently the Davison-Richfield Fire Department headquarters on Main Street).
The next spring, after satisfying the down payment on the land contract, services began in the remodeled garage of the house which was located at 2361 N. Irish Road.
Then began a series of construction projects with an addition in 1970, an auditorium in 1973 and another addition housing more classrooms, a kitchen, and fellowship hall in 1977. This completed the current church building.
Pastor Ralph Davidson continued as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church until 1984. Rev. Harold Steinman served as pastor from 1984-1992, and Rev. Jim Olah began his tenure as pastor in June 1993.
After offering to share the sanctuary with the new Life Fellowship Chapel in late 2006, the leadership of Calvary Baptist Church found that LFC shared similar doctrine and vision for accomplishing God's work. After extended research and discussion, the membership of both congregations voted to merge, effective in September 2007. While embracing the new church government and programs, the LFC Davison campus continues to offer unique ministries for the Davison area.
